You sold the business but you are the one who signed the lease with the building landlord and that is separate. It appears that technically the person who bought your shop is subleting it making you her landlord for the term of the lease and thus you have to collect the rent from her and then pay it to the person you leased the premise from.

Since you didn't get the lady to agree to take over the lease nor the person who you leased the property from to accept the novation there is nothing you can do but pay the person that you leased the property from his rent and then collect the rent fron the woman you sold the shop to.

The Lease is between you and the landlord and that is the only thing that stands since you made no provision for the woman who bought the shop to take over the lease.

Go to the Attorney General of your state. You will be able to file a complaint with them. Make sure you have all your paperwork on this woman.. Good Luck!

Tell the owner of the building in writing that you are no longer responsible for the lease.
Check the wording again in your sales paperwork. That person may have the right to take over your lease.

Can't you cancel the lease? Talk to the landlord. I'm sure they want to get paid so it might be difficult. You may have to get an attorney to get things fixed.
